One of the most kickass songs on the album, A Song for the Dead hits you like a freight train with its heavy, simplistic guitar riffs and dark, brooding vocals. Classic Queens of the Stone Age at its best. In 2014, Ultimate Guitar users voted the song as the best Queens of the Stone Age song of their discography

This extends to the production, with the entire album framed as a broadcast from a left-of-the-dial AM radio station, the sonics compressed so every instrument is flattened. It’s a joke run wild, punctuated by an ironic mock DJ, and it fits an album where the players run wild
Before their dalliances in ornate orchestral pop and nocturnal disco, Queens Of The Stone Age were, for all intents and purposes, a jam band. Such are the sullen trappings of 2013’s majesti. ike Clockwork, an album consumed by death and longing, and its crown jewel I Appear Missing. Less a song than a film noir in musical form, the spindly ballad takes a wrecking ball to Queens’ (and by extension, Homme’s) devil-may-care attitude, constructing a daring monument to vulnerability, rather than brute force.

Little Sister was the most-recommended from fourth album Lullabies to Paralyze (2005). Josh Homme had been working on side project The Eagles of Death Metal around this time, and their dancier, party sound seeped into some of QOTSA's work. nmusic: "Great riff, nice build and very catchy. And for Saturday Night Live fans, here's Little Sister with more cowbell from Gene Frenkle (aka Will Ferrell).
