The rolling images show lolling sunny hills And washed students in clean jeans Reconstructing part of the great henge. They look good for TV – big hearted, average – Just how we want to be. Then the picture jumpcuts to me.

The Stonehenge Free Festival was a British free festival from 1974 to 1984 held at the prehistoric monument Stonehenge in England during the month of June, and culminating with the summer solstice on or near June 21. It emerged as the major free festival in the calendar after the violent suppression of the Windsor Free Festival in August 1974, with Wally Hope providing the impetus for its founding, and was itself violently suppressed in 1985 in the Battle of the Beanfield, with no free festival held.

[Correction to the original version of this review] This is an audio-visual record of the last Stonehenge free festival with some very revealing footage of the police tactics of the day. If anyone thinks that the striking miners of the time were thugs try some of these snapshots, dotted across the film in sharp contrast to the music making and occasional animations. Musically, Roy Harper puts in an excellent performance, and The Enid put a lot of effort into their show, the vocal version of their "A Song for Europe" being the rarity here. Some of the tracks haven't been identified accurately by the producers. I can offer: 1. Roy Harper - One Man Rock And Roll Band 8. The Enid - Then There Were None 9. The Enid - The Last Judgement + A Song For Europe + Something Wicked This Way Comes: (all incomplete). The editing is very disappointing and the post-production is semi-professional at best. Overall, in my view this is a poor product. Certainly below par for Voiceprint.
