It's messy, it's painful, it's terrible, & it's beautiful.
How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls Swimming in a fish bowl, Year after year, Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears.
The third single released from that album, it reached No. 11 on the . Billboard Hot 100, No. 9 on the Cash Box Top 100, and hit No. 1 on the Easy Listening chart.
The album would go on to sell over 50 million copies and still moves copies to this day, standing as one of the most commercially successful albums of all time. Throughout popular music history, the pressure that comes with crafting a worthy a follow-up to a massive hit has allowed for some truly great one-two punches. Storm Thorgerson, who had also created the cover art for Dark Side of the Moon, designed the now-infamous cover. It's apparent that Thorgerson, working off of the lyrical themes of the record, wanted to explore images that depicted the longest-standing, tried and true ethos of rock and roll: sticking it to the man. So Thorgerson's cover (and the entire LP sleeve, actually) is filled with imagery that lambasts the soulless salesmen. On the front, there are two men in suits shaking hands, one of them on fire.

About Wish You Were Here. Wish You Were Here is the title track on Pink Floyd’s 1975 album. Wishing You Were Here (оригинал Chicago). Sleepless hours and dreamless nights and far aways. Ooo ooo ooo, wishing you were here. Heaven knows and lord it shows when I'm away. Ooo ooo ooo, wishing you were here. On the road it's a heavy load, but I'll be by. Pay the price, make a sacrifice, and still I'll try.

Wishing I could hear your voice again Knowing that I never would Dreaming of you won’t help me to do All that you dreamed I could. Passing bells and sculpted angels Cold and monumental Seem for you the wrong companions You were warm and gentle. Too many years fighting back tears Why can’t the past just die? Wishing you were somehow here again Knowing we must say goodbye Try to forgive, teach me to live Give me the strength to try. No more memories, no more silent tears No more gazing across the wasted years Help me say goodbye Help me say goodbye.
It's also partly Pink Floyd’s anguished and glorious tribute to the gifted Syd Barrett-whose career with the band ended seven years earlier-and a moving set from top to bottom. Wish You Were Here Pink Floyd. As sprawling as their earlier epic The Dark Side of the Moon yet more focused, this 1975 jewel featured lengthy, left-of-centre excursions ( Shine on You Crazy Diamond ) that were both majestic and reverent-along with a couple barbs thrown at the music industry ("Have a Cigar", "Welcome to the Machine"). It's also partly Pink Floyd’s anguished and glorious tribute to the gifted Syd Barrett-whose career with the band ended seven years earlier-and a moving set from top to bottom.
