Ramsey Lewis restructured that group under the name "Ramsey Lewis Trio" when some of its members entered the military. Bassist Eldee Young and percussionist Redd Holt replaced those departed members. The trio released their first album, "Ramsey Lewis & His Gentlemen of Jazz", after they signed with Chess Records in 1956.
