Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps), also known simply as Scary Monsters, is the 14th studio album by David Bowie, released on 12 September 1980 by RCA Records. It was Bowie's final studio album on the label and his first following the Berlin Trilogy of Low, "Heroes" and Lodger (1977–1979). Though considered very significant in artistic terms, the trilogy had proven less successful commercially.

Run, Run, Run. More on Genius. About Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps). Bowie compares the uncertainty of his upcoming career in the 80s to the anxiety one feels when entering a relationship. In a promo interview for the album, he stated that the song was from the perspective of the man, and his conflicted feelings about his influence on the girl. This theme of anxiety and self-doubt continues throughout Scary Monsters, making this an essential title track. It was released as the 3rd single for the album, with B-side Because You’re Young. But he jumped into the furnace, Singing old songs we loved. ANCIANT A New Career In A New Town) This is the second instalment of our album focus on David Bowie’s Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps)

David Bowie returned to relatively conventional rock & roll with Scary Monsters, an album that effectively acts as an encapsulation of all his '70s experiments. Though it doesn't have the vision of his other classic records, it wasn't designed to break new ground - it was created as the culmination of Bowie's experimental genre-shifting of the '70s.

Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps). Some would argue that this is the last great Bowie album, and certainly his only great album of the '80s. While it lacked the bite of its punk brethren at the time, it appealed to some fans of that genre and to middle-of-the-road rockers as well. Muscular playing met with no-frills production, and the product as a whole was infused with a gloriously arty style. It's No Game (Part I)" opens the album, and is sung in Japanese, and "It's No Game (Part II)" closes, in English.

Excellent sound. I don't have an original, but I'm a fan of this release. As another has pointed out, it has nice clarity, but is a bit thin. For the price though, well worth it.
Milleynti
The sound is excellent on this release. Great low end, nice clarity, things could've been a bit more dynamic, sounds a little thin and a tad compressed at times but otherwise great overall sound, nice detail. Nice clean, quiet pressing for a more than fair price. Happy with it. Standout track for me would be "Because Youre Young," they nailed the drums and bass on that cut and it sound pretty spectacular.
Linn
Yes it does, it is 23"x11.5" folded to 11.5"x11.5" with printing on one side
Steel_Blade
Yes, it does. And printed on better quality paper. And it sounds MUCH better than the original - ignore the aged audiophiles. £16.99 is a bargain for this.
Ieslyaenn
Curious, does this 2018 reissue come with a replica of the original lyric sheet insert?
Yananoc
Should this not be Europe rather than US, the same as the other three releases on the same day?
Thetalune
It should probably be USA, Canada & Europe. I bought a copy of this in a US record store on release date. They probably just did a huge run in an EU plant and shipped them worldwide.
