Darkest Hour is the eighth album by American metalcore band Darkest Hour. It was released on August 5, 2014 through Sumerian Records. It is the first album to feature bassist Aaron Deal and drummer Travis Orbin. The album marks their significant departure from their usual melodic death metal sound, instead having a more mainstream approach with elements of metalcore more prominent, with a more upbeat style. The band's next release would see a return to their original style.

Northern Exposure is a mix album by British DJ duo Sasha & John Digweed, released on 27 September 1996. The British package contains both CDs, whereas the American only has the first disc. The album is a concept album of tracks specially selected and mixed as two different "journeys", the first being the north journey, and the second being the south journey.

After the band’s sudden change from death metal to black metal, Peaceville Records refused to release the album. Peaceville agreed to release the album only if they were able to remix it, stating that the sound was too weak. The band then threatened to release it through Deathlike Silence Productions, the record label owned by Øystein Euronymous Aarseth of Mayhem. However, Peaceville eventually agreed to release the album as it was recorded. A Blaze in the Northern Sky Q&A.
