Following the EP they made a small tour in Sweden together with Oh Laura and Miss Li amongst others. The 80/20 rule is commonly thrown around in entrepreneurship and business. It is beneficial if you use it wisely. I mention the 80/20 rule frequently in my writings so I thought it was about time to write a proper introduction to the concept. I believe it’s fundamental to every business person – to every human being – so if you have never heard of this rule, please read on and absorb everything I’m about to tell you, it could potentially change your life. The 80/20 rule sounds like a statistic and in some ways it is. Personally I’m not a big fan of maths and beyond basic web statistics like pageviews, impressions, unique visitors – and when I stretch myself – conversion rates and split testing, I try and.

The Pareto principle (also known as the 80/20 rule, the law of the vital few, or the principle of factor sparsity) states that, for many events, roughly 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes.

This universal truth about the imbalance of inputs and outputs is what became known as the Pareto principle, or the 80/20 rule. While it doesn’t always come to be an exact 80/20 ratio, this imbalance is often seen in various business cases:, 20% of the sales reps generate 80% of total sales. 20% of the most reported software bugs cause 80% of software crashes

Everybody has heard of the 80/20 rule but this post is going to make it a lot more useful. When I worked in the IT department at HBO there were about 100 programmers. But 20 of the programmers did 80% of the ultimate work that was created. The rest was dead weight. The financial crisis of 2008 gave every company the excuse to start firing the 80% and they are still doing it. That’s why there is still so much economic uncertainty now. That’s the 80/20 rule. Another famous example in science is if you plant a garden, 20% of the seeds you plant will fill up 80% of the garden.

When you put your life online, people think they know 80% of who you are. But internet personas are really only 20% true. But I felt like I’ve been playing a character all this time - or at least a heightened version of myself. I have what I call my 80/20 Rule, a theory based entirely on presumption and not at all mathematical. If I were good at math, I’d be in a different business. The premise is essentially this: Everything you know about someone based on what they put on the internet represents about 20 percent of who he or she really is, while the other 80 percent is not actually present in that online persona. On the other hand, the 20 percent you put out there can be perceived as 80 percent of your inner.

The 80/20 is based on the principle that 80% of results are produced by 20% of the effort. This comes into play in many circumstances, such as marketing, sales and productivity.
