The Last In Line is the second Platinum-selling studio album by the American heavy metal band Dio, released on July 2, 1984. It is the first Dio album to feature former Rough Cutt keyboardist Claude Schnell. In 2005, The Last In Line was ranked number 372 in Rock Hard magazine's book of The 500 Greatest Rock & Metal Albums of All Time.

Redirected from II (Last in Line album)). Last in Line is an American heavy metal band formed in 2012 by former members of the original lineup of Dio. The band's name comes from the 1984 Dio album The Last in Line. Following the death of Dio frontman Ronnie James Dio in 2010, the original lineup of drummer Vinny Appice, bassist Jimmy Bain, guitarist Vivian Campbell, and keyboardist Claude Schnell reunited along with vocalist Andrew Freeman to perform the Dio songs they originally recorded.
The Last In Line’ remains one of the great metal albums of the 80s, proving that Dio were capable of muscle, flash, and a subtler, more reflective side. Published on. July 2, 2018. Spawning two US Top 40 hits in the shape of the churning ‘Rainbow In The Dark’ and the dramatic, widescreen titular song, the album wowed the critics (with Kerrang! accurately proclaiming it to be a perfect melodic metal album ) and charted highly on both sides of the Atlantic, earning the band a platinum disc in the States.
