Little Roy began his career recording a few unsuccessful tracks with producers Coxsone Dodd and Prince Buster. He had his first number one hit with "Bongo Nyah" (1969) for Lloyd Daley ("the Matador"), the first song about the Rastafari movement to be successful commercially in Jamaica. For his song "Don't Cross the Nation" (1970), Little Roy worked with the. Wailers and producer Lee "Scratch" Perry. Starting in 1972, Roy worked with Maurice "Scorcher" Jackson and his brother Munchie. Roy decided to re-issue some of his old material on an album titled Prophesy. A new album, Live On, was released in 1991, and he worked with Adrian Sherwood on the 1996 album Long Time. Roy released another album in 2005, Children of the Most High. In May 2011 Little Roy collaborated with Prince Fatty and the Mutant Hi-Fi to record Sliver/Dive cover of Nirvana's early single.

Of equal caliber is "Prophesy," its riddim a stunning adaptation of an old jazz number, "Peanut Vendor. Today, it's better known as the "Taxi" riddim, named after the version Sly & Robbie created for the dancehall age. The glorious prayer for the "Earth," the powerful "Jah Can Count On I," the emotive "Richman Laugh," and the harmony drenched "Christopher Columbus" are all standouts.

Little Roy began his career at the age of 12 years in 1965 recording a few unsuccessful tracks with producers Coxsone Dodd and Prince Buster. He is part of the musical legacy, one of the founding Fathers of what we call ROOTS REGGAE ERA. He was the first to record a song with the word REGGAE with producer Prince Buster who named him Little Roy although the song was unsuccessful. An album of Nirvana songs, Battle for Seattle, was released on September 2011 on Ark Recordings.
Booker Little is an album by American jazz trumpeter Booker Little featuring performances recorded in 1960 for the Time label. The CD re-release entitled Booker Little: Complete Quartet Recordings added six bonus tracks drawn from the albums Metronome Presents Jazz in the Garden at the Museum of Modern Art by Teddy Charles, Booker Little 4 and Max Roach, Max Roach + 4 on the Chicago Scene, and Max Roach + 4 at Newport.
Newly dubbed Little Roy, the singer only voiced a pair of tracks for Buster before moving on again to the stable of Lloyd Matador Daley. Backed by the Hippy Boys, Roy scored his first hit with Bongo Nyah in 1969, a song that held the number one slot of the Jamaican record charts during the weeks that followed. By this time, Roy had begun exploring the teachings of Rastafari, having become acquainted with followers in the Washington Gardens area. Roy was vaunted into the spotlight once again when Victory Dance, a one-rhythm album based around Prophesy, was compiled at the start of the '90s. Following the release of Live On (1990) and a European tour with Gregory Isaacs, Pressure Sounds owner Adrian Sherwood brought Little Roy into a London studio for the recording of Longtime, ensuring that the singer's vision would live on into the 21st century.
