Although I first met Bob Young at PYE studios in the Quo days 69/70 and Micky on various sessions, which led to me producing a single with the guys Young and Moody, I unfortunately missed being involved in this particular session.

Robert Keith Young (born 16 May 1945 in Basingstoke, Hampshire, England) is an English musician and author, who became famous for being the unofficial fifth member of the rock band Status Quo. From the mid-1960s onwards, Young has been working in the music business, starting as a crew member for Amen Corner, The Nice and also for The Herd. Based on this experience he was hired by the management of Status Quo, after they had their first hit with "Pictures of Matchstick Men" in 1968.

As all Quo fans will know, Bob Young has had a long, close association with the band, both as road manager and songwriter. In 1986 he gave his own interpretation of some of their most renowned songs, giving Down Down, Dirty Water, Claudie and others a countrified workover. And they still sound fun and sufficiently different to make the exercise worthwhile.

Appeared in 1986 the solo album In Quo Country that contains has been written by Bob Young and he reinterpreted pieces from his time with the status quo in the style of country music. Since the 1990s, Bob Young has been mainly working as a manager in the music business, among other things, Vanessa Mae and the INXS singer Ciaran Gribbin. He also worked for the BBC and wrote with Ray Minhinnett a book about the Fender Stratocaster. In 2000 Bob Young has added to the delight of many fans, the cooperation with Francis Rossi again. Bob is joined by some impressive guests, including long-time “Young & Moody” collaborator, Micky Moody on guitar, Albert Lee, Billy Bremner, B J Cole, Pete Wiltshire, and Quo’s Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt. As an extra treat for Quo fans, the album finishes on a writing session for the band’s first number one single, ‘Down Down’, recorded at the Travelodge Motel in Hollywood, on the band’s first American tour in 1973. Back in 1986 he released an album called 'In Quo Country' which revisited some of those songs in a laid back country environment. It only took Status Quo another 30 years to think of the same thing with 'Aquostic'. It's been out on CD a couple of time before under it's oroginal name and with some bonus tracks as '(Tex Axile Rides Again) In Quo Country'. So it's the third time at the races and it's got some different bonus tracks.

Status Quo have undoubtedly earned their place in rock history.
