Proby (born James Marcus Smith, November 6, 1938) is an American singer, songwriter, and actor. He has also portrayed Elvis Presley and Roy Orbison in musical theater productions. Proby recorded the singles "Hold Me", "Somewhere", and "Maria". In 2008, he turned 70 and EMI released the Best of the EMI Years 1961–1972.
J. Proby had a minor hit with 'Niki Hoeky' in 1967, but he enjoyed greater success in England. A handsome guy, the pop singer excited his audiences by ripping his tight pants back in the day. I picked this album up because it was only ten bucks and it was in near mint condition. P. s voice does absolutely nothing for me. Seems to me he got by on his looks, and I've never heard anything I've enjoyed much from Proby.

It features tracks such as Doris Day's hit "Que Sera Sera/Whatever Will Be Will Be" and "Rockin' Pneumonia and the Boogie Woogie Flu". Compared to his other albums, I Am P. Proby is faster in beat and more influenced by rock and roll. In 2005 the album was released un-mastered in mono on EMI, in a double pack with Proby's second studio album, P. Proby.
