The album features their breakthrough single "Light My Fire" and the lengthy song "The End" with its Oedipal spoken word section. The Doors was central to the progression of psychedelic rock, and has been critically acclaimed.

13 is the first compilation album by American rock band the Doors, released by Elektra Records on November 30, 1970. The title refers to the thirteen tracks included, which feature a variety of songs from their five studio albums released up to that point. It is the band's only compilation album released while lead singer Jim Morrison was alive.

The following is the discography of the American rock band the Doors. Formed in Los Angeles in 1965, the group consisted of Jim Morrison (vocals), Ray Manzarek (keyboards), John Densmore (drums), and Robby Krieger (guitar). The Doors became one of the most popular rock bands of their era. Their debut album, The Doors (1967), released by Elektra Records, charted at No. 2 on the US Billboard 200 and produced the group's most successful single, "Light My Fire".

The self-titled debut album of The Doors, this is generally considered a landmark album in the psychedelic rock genre. The album was released January 4th, 1967 through Elektra Records. The album was a massive critical success, cementing The Doors as one of the greatest rock bands of all time. The album was certified platinum by the RIAA, was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, and was inducted in the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress in 2015 based on it’s cultural, artistic, and historic significance

Many of the songs on Strange Days had been written around the same time as the ones that appeared on The Doors, and with hindsight one has the sense that the best of the batch had already been cherry-picked for the debut album. For that reason, the band's second effort isn't as consistently stunning as their debut, though overall it's a very successful continuation of the themes of their classic album

The Doors released only six studio albums during their 1967-71 run, but each record left an indelible mark on the group's overall legacy. From their classic self-titled debut (home to the breakout and chart-topping hit "Light My Fire") to . Woman (which turned out to be their unplanned final LP), the Doors' catalog is filled with (mostly) indisputable gems.
