She was apparently good enough to get hired by Tommy Dorsey to sing with his band in one of its last engagements, and RCA Victor seems to have followed his lead. Her voice isn't powerful or notable stylistically, but McDonald does hit all the right notes and, in the context of her quiet delivery - kind of like a distaff Nat King Cole - does delivery a fine album of standards. I Got It Bad (Ain't That Ain't Good)" is probably the highlight here, as an almost bluesy showcase for her work.

For the remainder of the 1950s, McDonald focused on theatre and music. McDonald recorded an LP for RCA Victor in 1957, The Body Sings, backed by Hal Borne and His Orchestra, which consisted of twelve standard ballads. She also toured the world in a very successful nightclub act. She returned to the screen in 1958 when she was cast as actress Lola Livingston in a slapstick comedy opposite Jerry Lewis in The Geisha Boy (Frank Tashlin, 1958).

Hal Borne (December 26, 1911, Chicago, Illinois - February 25, 2000, Tarzana, California) was an American popular song composer, orchestra leader, music arranger and musical director, who studied music at the University of Illinois. At the beginning of his career he worked for RKO studios as the rehearsal pianist for Fred Astaire. Borne became a big-band orchestra leader and in February 1942 signed as the music director for RCM's soundies (musical shorts filmed for jukeboxes) for which his trio often provided backings. For many years Borne was associated with Tony Martin and became his regular music director for live appearances throughout the 1950s and 60s.

Marie McDonald (born Cora Marie Frye, July 6, 1923 – October 21, 1965) was an American singer and actress known as "The Body Beautiful" and later nicknamed "The Body". She returned to the screen in 1958, when she was cast as actress Lola Livingston in The Geisha Boy, a slapstick comedy, opposite Jerry Lewis.

Kentucky-born Marie McDonald, born Cora Marie Frye in 1923, was a leggy, voluptuous blonde starlet who pursued her career with a vengeance but found. She found her first singing work with Tommy Dorsey & His Orchestra on his radio show and eventually joined other bands as well. Although Universal signed her up, she couldn't get past a few one-line jobs. She knew publicity would have to be her mode of operation if she was to draw the necessary attention and advance her career. Press agents dubbed Marie "The Body" and the tag eventually stuck. Marie tried to make a comeback by recording an album called The Body Sings. She also toured the country in her own nightclub act. Marie sued the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco after she was injured during a show.
