Jim Schwall (born November 12, 1942) is an American musician, singer-songwriter, and photographer. He is best known as a co-founder and member of the Siegel-Schwall Band. Jim Schwall was born in Chicago, Illinois, and currently resides in the Madison, Wisconsin area. A singer-songwriter, he plays guitar, as well as mandolin, bass guitar, and other instruments. He studied music at Roosevelt University. There he met Corky Siegel, and became interested in blues music.

The title of the album refers to the Quiet Knight, a music venue where the Siegel–Schwall Band performed many times, and which was located at 953 West Belmont Avenue in Chicago. The album cover art depicts the platform of the nearby Belmont el station.

It is not to be confused with the band's fifth album, which is also titled The Siegel–Schwall Band. The Siegel–Schwall Band was produced by Samuel Charters. It is the band's only album with their original bass player, Jos Davidson.
